Timeline

1903               was born in Indian
1911               went to St Cyprian's School in Eastbourne.
1917               won a scholarship to Eton.
1921               joined the British police in Burma.
1927               resigned.
1928               journeyed to Paris.
1932-1933     worked as a teacher in a private school.
1933               published first book
1934               got a part time job and published first novel
1935               had another novel publish
1936               publish Keep the Aspidistra Flying, married Eileen and commissioned to write a book                         about poverty in northern English, flied in the Spanish in Civil War
1937               published The Road to Wigan Pier
1938               published A Homage to Catalonia and suffered  from tuberculosis.
1938-1939      spent winter in Morocco.
1939               published Coming Up For Air novel.
1941-1943     worked for the BBC and became literary editor
1945               published Animal Farm
1949               published  masterpiece 1984 and  married second wife
1950              died
