Why the Guardian is changing the language it uses about the environment.

Taking notes:

. Guardian, changing, terminology, style guide, the terms, describe the environment

. Climate change - climate emergency; crisis or breakdown, global heating - global warming.

. Purpose placement, making scientifically precise, convey clearly, reader.

. United States, EU, pope, used the "climate crisis" term

. Global scientists report said, in 2030 carbon emissions must halve, avoid risks drought, flood, extreme heat, poverty hundreds of millions of people.

. Other terms, update, including use of “wildlife” rather than “biodiversity”, “fish populations” instead of “fish stocks” and “climate science denier” rather than “climate sceptic”.

. CO2, atmosphere, risen dramatically

. climate crisis no longer, future problem, address it now, everyday matters.

Summary:

This is a summary of a newspaper article that informs the readers about the update of the terms of the environmental crises in the world. The Guardian is changing the terminology in their style guide that more accurately describes the environmental crises facing the world. They replaced “climate change” the preferred terms are “climate emergency, crisis or breakdown” and “global heating” is favored over “global warming”. The United States, Europe, and the Pope also use the "climate crisis" term. In 2030 the global scientists said carbon emissions must halve to avoid risks of drought, floods, extreme heat, and poverty for hundreds of millions of people. Besides that other terms have been updated such as “wildlife” rather than “biodiversity”, “fish populations” instead of “fish stocks” and “climate science denier” rather than “climate sceptic”. The level of CO2 has risen so dramatically in the atmosphere so the climate crisis is no longer for the future problem, we need to address it now.

The worldwide viral pandemic face unlike anything we have ever lived through. Nowadays we are all  bracing a major community outbreak of coronavirus. Next few weeks to months will be intense.
These are the things that we will be doing to look after mental, physical health and family :prioritising sleep, regularly exercising, eating well, cocooning people at risk, checking in on my neighbours, openly communicating with my children, putting the phone away, washing my hands.
